Guest guest
Oh, Aekta - I had prayed that we'd hear of a miracle, too, but we are all thinking of you and know you're in such capable hands with Dr. Sturm. Please let me know if there is anything at all I can do. Love Sandi
Guest guest
Aekta, I am so sorry to hear the cast is not working for Max. Like you said, you have done everything you can for him. You have given him over a year to grow before surgery. I am thinking about you and please know I am praying. Keep us posted. How are you doing? Isn't is getting close? Take care, Tasha babymaxpd wrote: Max had his follow-up appointment on friday. The miracle cast #8 I was hoping for was just a hope. Unfortunately cast #8 is also not holding Max's curve. So Max will be getting his last cast on 12/18. On 12/18, he will be scheduled for his surgery in late January/early February. Dr. Sturm discussed the pros and cons of each the growing rod and VEPTR. Dr. Sturm indicated if Max was his child he would do the growing rod over the VEPTR. Dr. Sturm is allowing us to make the final decision on which surgery as he will do either. Dr. of UT reviewed Max's x-rays indicating Max would be a good candidate for the VEPTR. I just received this call today. I will wait until after the holiday to call back with questions. Thank you to everyone for your support on Max's casting journey over the past 15 months. We know we have done everything we can for Max and have bought him 1 1/2 years before surgery so his little body has grown more and grateful for the opportunity. I will continue to update on Max's surgery date as we hear more. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! --------------------------------- Be a better sports nut! Let your teams follow you with Yahoo Mobile. Guest guest
I'm sorry to hear that Max's curves didn't respond to casting as you'd hoped. I am glad that Dr got to review his x-rays though - he really is one of the top VEPTR doc's out there. Dr D'Astous at Shriners (SLC) sent us to him to have Siobhan assessed, and he told us that VEPTR would be the best thing for Siobhan's curves. He was so right - Yep, the surgery was hard, but Siobhan's quality of life has been so improved, that people don't even realize she has scoliosis, let alone 2 rods holding her up!! Hopefully when you call and talk to (at Dr 's office) you'll get all your questions answered, and be able to make the best decision for your little Max. Guest guest
I know you will make the right decision for Max. I am just so sorry this last cast didn't offer more help for him. Please take care of yourself and baby too. We will continue to keep you and Max in our prayers. Tina Max's last cast Max had his follow-up appointment on friday. Guest guest
So sorry to hear that casting is no longer helping. Please let us know what you decide and when surgery will be. Maybe you have already read the Parent Veptr Handbook in the info section of the ISOP website? Let us know if there is anything more we can do. Guest guest
I was hoping for a miracle for Max as well! I wish you and little Max the best of luck. Do you have someone that can help you with Max after the surgery and the new baby on the way? Is Max excited about being a BIG brother??? Guest guest
HI Aekta! Sorry to hear that the cast isn't holding and that Max is going to have surgery. We too will be at Shriners on the 18th for Sammy's second (and probably last) cast with Dr. Sturm, so we will look forward to seeing you then! ________________________________ From: infantile_scoliosis [mailto:infantile_scoliosis ] On Behalf Of babymaxpd Sent: Monday, November 19, 2007 8:08 PM To: infantile_scoliosis Subject: Max's last cast Max had his follow-up appointment on friday. Guest guest
Aekta, I am sorry to hear that the last cast wasn't the miracle you were hoping for, but at least it bought him some time like you said. It's good that you are looking at all of the options. I know you will make the right decision for Max.
