Oh, one thing about the differences in hospitals that 's post

just reminded me of - when we went to the local Shriner's, the

resident who trimmed Jack's hips for us asked the lady there in the

casting room for the headphones. They put big, sturdy headphones

(like the ones ground crew wear at airports) and it helps SO much I

might buy a pair to bring with us to Chicago next time

And that's exactly what we did too :)

Bathing, swimming and lots of hugs....

Hope to see you and your family again one day :)

hold her facing me in my lap. I talk to her while it is quickly

removed, it takes literally 2 minutes. I will say that we prefer

having it removed at Shriners-Utah, rather than the Childrens

hospital near our home. We had it removed at Childrens one time, the

cast saw was a huge, very load machine, and the resident was not very

comforting. At Shriners, it is a small hand held...looks like a blow

dryer, and they are " kind, careful and quick " . We then hug, swim,

bathe and hug some more.

I think Darrells suggestion of head phones/portable dvd/or music is

fantastic, and I wish I would have thought of this for Olivia. DUH! The

cast saw is traumatic, and head phones would elimate trauma to the child

and the entire family.

Bring them if you got em'!

Hi Miranda

Yes Dylan had his 6th cast applied in SLC just before christmas and

his 7th cast last week and we go back in june. Dylan just loves it

there and the staff is incredible.

I also got to meet Jacki and Siobhan, and Kylie the first

time we went!!!

The second time I got to meet and Olivia. Thanks again

.

Great KIDS sweethearts too!!!

And yes the DVD and Headphones make all the difference in

the world for us.

We bring the video ipod and headphones every time for Jack, but,

unfortunately, it hasn't helped him much with the cast saw. :(

The local shriner's (who cuts off our casts now) has noise cancelling

headphones (like you'd see on an airport tarmac) and they work better, in

our experience.
