Guest guest
, I went through the same things you did after first being diagnosed. I, too remember being relieved and finally having an answer to a lot of the questions I had growing up regarding physical incapability. Being in denial, I believe is a natural process to get where you will eventually be; a place of total acceptance, tolerance, and optimism. I'm there. I was diagnosed 10 years ago at age 37. My disease has progressed to the point where I now use either a cane or rolling walker to assist me and I wear AFOs (leg braces) most of my waking hours. I have been on permanent disability from my professional career for the last 4 1/2 years. But it's all o.k. You're on the right track in finding out more about your illness. My advice to you is to not try to hide your illness. Take the opportunity to educate others as you are learning more yourself. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Be so very thankful for the support you get from your family; it means a lot to me, too. Also, if and when the time comes for you to have to quit work, accept it with grace. It has been a Godsend for me. Best wishes to you! K.
