Guest guest
Hi Elaina, You sound very overwhelmed. I am not much help. I wish I could be. Can you go get a blood panel done and have your thyroid checked and some other stuff? I know it's your CMT but if you have anemia or a hypo thyroid you can get very worn down too. I just don't know how you do everything. You are one tough cookie I will tell you that! I gave up trying to get people to realize that CMT drains me. A little story: for a long time I was dragging my butt. Just walking in the parking lot of Target the back of my legs would burn from fatigue. I could never get enough sleep. I just figured it was CMT. I actually had hypothyroidism. I have a similar story when I was anemic.
Guest guest
Gretchen, You're wonderful. That's all I can say. Just wonderful. It helps to know that there are people who understand exactly how tired I am. It's not a good feeling when the people in your own inner circle act like they want to say 'you look fine what is the problem with you' or 'you can't be that tired you're just lazy'. I have copies of my neuros records, I've sent for copies of the specialists records who diagnosed me. I will take those and go to my internist who does seem to be interested in learning about CMT. Maybe he can help with the work portion. I'll contact my school this week. You're right Gretchen I'm stressed and I guess had started to freak out a bit. Thanks for putting things in perspective. Elaina.
Guest guest
Hi , Your suggestions were exactly what the new neurologist was also thinking. He is testing me for anemia and wants me to have a sleep study done. He thinks I might have some kind of sleep apnea. My thyroid was tested years ago with all results normal. I was pleased with this new neuro in the fact that he listened and diagnosed me with RLS (my other neuro would just nod his head but would never actually give me that diagnosis). So now the new doc has me on Requip while I await the blood test for my iron and a sleep study. Does anyone have any comments on the Requip? Anybody taking it now and what kind of success? Thanks, Elaina/NY
