Hi -

My name is Lee Ann and I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself and my

daughter la. We call her Gabby. Gabby is 18 months old and suffers from

hypotonia, myelin delay, GERD, eosinophilic esophagitis (EE), she wears DAFO's

(little leg braces), receives OT and PT and lives solely on an elemental diet

(special amino acid formula). The PMR doctor at our neurologists office

recommended that we have hip and spine x-rays done, just as a " baseline. " We

expected them to be normal; however, her spinal x-ray came back showing a 10

degree scoliosis with the apex to the left at T9 and T10. From what I have

read, this is very mild, but was wondering what we should or shouldn't be doing?

So I am seeking some quidance. Our neurologist said to do nothing and x-ray

again in one year. Any thoughts?

Lee Ann, Livonia, Michigan [Wife to Bud, Mom to 3 typical and la

18 months w/ hypotonia, infantile scoliosis 10 degrees, myelin delay, GERD and

diagnosed w/ EE 2/27/07 (>57 eos/hpf), Elemental diet, clear scope 6/11/07,

beginning food trials; wears DAFO's, receives OT/PT, takes Prevacid for reflux

and milk of magnesia for constipation]

Ten degrees is pretty mild, but I certainly wouldn't wait a year to follow up.

Mild curves can sometimes progress very rapidly. An MRI should be done in order

to rule out a tethered spinal cord as well.
