Guest guest
Ok guys I really need some advice on this one. I've been asked to make a creamy type lotion that has shea. It will be used on senior citizens for their feet and so needs to have a healing effect and yet has to be kind of thick. Not too thick. She wants it so that when the seniors put their shoes or slippers on again that they won't go slipping around in their shoes, some don't wear socks. So I've kind of worked out something and I guess just need a second opinion... Here's what I have....If I've worked it out rite it should be about 113.4 g or about 4 oz. 71.43g distilled water 14.18g Shea Butter (does this go grainy in lotions?) 7.09g grapeseed oil 7.09g Aloe extract 5.67 g glycerine 4.54 g e-wax 3.4 g stearic Acid don't know how much Citric Acid to use or if I need any? 1.13 g Germaben II So all you lotion makers out there please tell me what you think and give advice. This is only my second lotion and just need to know of any adjustments you would make to this formulation. Keeping in mind that is is for senior citizens and needs to be kind of thick but not too thick. Also I was thinking of a Peppermint and Eucalyptus EO or maybe peppermint and orange EO mix.Any other ideas would be welcome. Thanks in advance!! in MT
Guest guest
, for the lotion swap I tried a totally new recipe. It's the recipe on The Herbarie and is the Veena Sateena Natramulse Creme recipe. I altered it to make it a lotion, BUT out of all the lotions and cremes that I have ever made, it s hands down the absolute most penetrating and leaves NO oily feel at all. It has hydrolyzed oats which is what I feel made the difference. I've used every type of oil/butter combo and in this one I used monoi, shea and sweet almond, h-oats and some silky skin silicone blend. It goes on, disappears and just leaves your skin soft....no after feel at all I was amazed. Hope that helps. Your shea likely won't go grainy and you don't need the citrus acid unless you think the pH will come out off.
