Guest guest
I just gave a scoby and a nice large glass jar to a friend so she could start making kombucha. She googled and found this: Kombucha and kids, is it safe? http://www.domesticdiva.ca/blog/childrens-health/kombucha-and-kids-is-it-safe/ " Kombucha tea may cause calcium depletion because it binds to minerals making it an alkaline drink " Cautions & Concerns http://www.happyherbalist.com/cautions.htm " However you have to be very careful in not over doing this. An excess will rob your body of ionic minerals. A cup or two is fine, but large amounts of these acids are not a good idea. How much is too much? It is a relative term. For a normal healthy adult the amount is thought to be 4-8 fluid ounces daily. " My friend is very concerned about calcium depletion, as an older female, and has decided to stop drinking kombucha after reading this. Anyone know about this? I am relcutant to stop drinking kombucha, I love kombucha! Thank you, - Tamara
Guest guest
Reagan drank 2 liters a day- I don't recall him breaking a lot of bones as he aged.... but I have noticed that there are MANY articles that attack Kombucha for various reasons- most of which are entirely unfounded. So I personally think personal research is more valuable than the opinions given by somebody who- probably- has an agenda of their own- We have all read the attacks the National Cancer Institute has made on KT_ from a position of fear IMHO. If you research the life of Reagan- or have a good memory- you will find that conventional medicine had failed him completely. A foreign expert was brought in who immediately put him on Kombucha- this was after chemo failed and his cancer had spread throughout his body. You won't find any references to Kombucha and how it saved his life in many places... The medical industrial complex protecting it's profits IMHO. Guest guest
I drink KT with added ionic minerals. The probiotics and the enzymes in KT are unique and well worth consuming daily.  I take boron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, ancient sea salt. I do better when drinking KT. I sip it all day long when I have a bug. I also drink herbal teas and good quality water(RO or natual mineral water). KT is healthy and limiting it aught to be based on how you feel. Also I try to drink water or herbal teas in 4 or 5 to one with the KT.  Minerals are hard to absorb. So it is a focus for my health to take absorbable minerals. So far I seem to be doing just fine....for many years.  ann    ________________________________ To: original_kombucha Sent: Wednesday, January 4, 2012 4:07 PM Subject: kombucha & calcium depletion?  I just gave a scoby and a nice large glass jar to a friend so she could start making kombucha.
