Guest guest
Hi, My daughter has systemic JRA, or Still's, too. She has had it for nine years. I co-chair a JRA support group for our state. Go to the link I posted and visit that listserve as well. It is a listserve for JRA. Many of the parents have children with systemic JRA. I will tell you what I have learned the last 9 years. About 50% of the children go into complete remission. The disease last a few months to a year, and then poof it is gone. That is called monocyclic, systemic jra. My daughter has polycyclic, systemic jra. The disease ebbs and flows. Good times and bad, but she has never gone into remission. Don't get too freaked out with what you read. Make sure you are going to a pediatric rheumatologist. If your daughter has started on methotrexate, it takes 7-8 weeks to get into her system, and a full 6-12 months to reach maximum level. It may do the trick for your little girl. If it doesn't, another medication will be added. This is a great time to have JRA.(If you can say that ever a time is a good time) There have been such tremendous advancements in the last 9 years. Please email me if you have any other questions. bc.price@.... Take care, http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Village/8414/
