Hi Joyce,

I take Xanax, but not regularly.

I'll make my story quick as I can. I used to work nights and was used too

staying up late. When I found out I had CMT1A about 3 years now, I still worked

but my sleeping habits were always strange. Now I don't work at all,I can't,

but it takes me hours to get my body going, so I'm not fully functional until 12

p.m., then I have a problem getting to sleep.

Even when I do, I'll wake up 2 or 3 hours later and am ready to go again. Xanax

lets me sleep a good 6 to 8 hours, but the only thing I don't like is the fact

that it makes me groggy in the morning. My subscription is 2 a day, 1 milligram

each. I usually split them in half. It all depends upon the person I guess.

Point being, maybe having CMT makes me more tired in the morning. Otherwise, I

have had times when I hyperventilated and yes, it

helps alot. Hope I helped.

Butting in here...

Just wondering if you've tried Provigil. It's great for regulating your sleep

cycle and combating fatigue.

You might want to ask your doctor about it. I take it as soon as I wake up and

I'm ready to go. It used to be, before Provigil, that I'd wake up for about an

hour and then go back to bed until about noon.

I just started taking it a couple of times this week as I am waiting

for disability so that I can stop working. Right now I am in a lot

of pain and worried so it is hard to fall asleep, though I am

exhausted all day. I took a full dose a couple of nights and it

knocked me out, but it was very hard to get up in the morning

(though, again, it's hard to get up without it, too). I know it is

very addictive, so I am being careful.

I definitly do not want drugs as a lifestyle, but it's getting

tough.

Good luck,

Lenka
