This is a post from February ... SORRY!! But I have been lurking on

the list for awhile. My daughter has SID (dx 5 years ago), but last

year we began to see other symptoms that looked like OCD

(specifically fears and skin picking). The fears have gotten so much

better but I have noticed that the skin picking is getting more

frequent. SHe is doing alot better in the clothing department which

used to be the biggest challenge of all. Tactile defensiveness was

her first symptom.

My question for you all is this: it looks like sid and ocd can occur

together quite a bit. Should I be concerned about the skin picking?

OUr pediatrician sent us to a psychiarist last summer who confirmed

mld ocd/anxiety and recommended Paxil. I was very hesitant to use

meds bcs Occupational Therapy has seemed to really work well for our

daughter and she has gotten so much better in a lot of areas. I hate

to " fix what isn't broken " by adding medication.

Any input would be appreciated. HAs anyone seen major improvement in

tactile symptoms with medication.

Thank so much!

Tina in Texas
