Dear :

F.Y.I. Districts also has a right to charge a nominal fee per copy. Parents

also have to right to copy the material with their own copy machine and incur no

expense. I have done that. Sincerely, Vivian

In the website http://www.specialeducation.ws/sample_letters.html

under " request for copy of records " -- it lists this paragraph in that sample

letter:

1. (2) the right to request of the agency provide copies of the records

containing the affirmation if failure to provide those copies would effectively

prevent the parent from exercising the right to inspect and review the records

So - am I understand that the school HAS to provide copies of those records to

the parent if they request?

Like if a parent works and going to the school for several days/hours to review

those copies is a hardship?

Please advise....

Sincerely,

M. Guppy

Hi ,

I went through this same thing last year with Burleson ISD. At the

time I was unable to go to the administration building to " review "

the records and really needed copies that I could just pick up to

review when I would have the time. They refused and kept writing that

I had to come in to review them and that they would not provide

copies for me even if I paid for the copies. I totally lost that

battle.
