Guest guest
, I just checked a certain 2 gal jug and noticed the cloth was wet. OH NO. I took it off to replace it with a new one and FRUIT FLIES flew out. Now I know what their larvae looks like!!! I don't think it is ever possible to get totally rid of these as long as we brew fermented things that need to breath through a cloth. I have several bated cone traps around the kitchen and they have caught very few in light of the cause. I also use the sweeper. But I have had them all summer long. I just can't ever get all rid of them. They must be deaf bugs because they should fly when I turn the sweeper on and they don't. But when I was going after them often, like all day for days, they soon learned to fly as soon as they saw me coming. :-( Lyn >> > My first scoby became infested with fruit fly larvae the very first week > (and I had it covered!).
