Therapy for kids in casts

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone's child has received any physical therapy

or occupational therapy while they were in their cast? For example,

arm and leg stregthening.

The reason I ask is that Max is otherwise a healthy child besides the

scoliosis. Miss Mehta had recommended breathing exercises to help

with lung and chest expansion. Such exercises include blowing up a

ballon or blowing bubbles (wich he prefers to lick). Perhaps she

recommended this because Maw will be in a cast for a long period of

time provided there is no progression.

My sister is a pediatric speech therapist who is ordering us some

blowing toys like bird whistles, easier toys than ballons.

I know exercise and physcial therapy is crucial for muscle

strengthening after the cast is removed.

Any input or thoughts would be helpful.

Thank you,

Aekta
