Guest guest
Putting up with pain is not an option for our kids or anybody elses, one of our local ENT consultants has a child with autism, maybe he might be more sympathatic? I'll try and find out who he is, mail me off list to chase for you Mandi x My 22 month old has had ear problems since she was 12 months. Doctors always gave the same answer that 'there is no infection'. Saw an ENT specialist a couple of weeks ago and fluid was detected in the left ear. However, he says it's normal for children this age to have it and we should just put up with it as NHS no longer drains the fluid nor insert grommets. If she's got no infection per doc but fluid in middle ear, then she probably has some swelling in that tube[eustachian tube] that goes from middle ear to back of throat[behind tonsils]. Putting the grommets in would drain the fluid to the outer ear canal if it can't get down the eust tube for normal drainage. So - why the swelling? allergy? Do you think that some antihistamine ?benadryl, claritin, zyrtec would help bring down the swelling while you try to figure if it may be food/other allergy causing this. It seems pretty inhumane to write this off as 'normal'. Three of my children went through this and they were miserable until the fluid was eliminated by the tubes. Those garlic/mulleum ear drops offered some relief for us. Would there be a homeopathic remedy specific for this? > > Hi, My 22 month old has had ear problems since she was 12 months. The fact that she does not like lying on her back may indicate some subluxation along the spine... The founder of Chiropractic .. So a problem in the back can impact on the ears.. If she is also prone to congestion.. then it makes it all a bit icky and sticky in the ears. Best Wishes Tracey PS .. in desperation I have sometimes put a drop of 6% hydrogen peroxide in their ears.. and let it fizz out any of the gunk that is creating a problem.. I put drop in and get them to lie on their opposite side for a couple of minutes then roll them to the other side with a tissue under the ear and allow the liquid to drain out.
