The guy that I got it from has been using it for sometime with organic sugars, teas (mate), and filtered water. When I transferred the mother to my new tea batch, I noticed that there was some black bacteria (I am assuming because it wasn't fuzzy). It was on some of the stringy suspension. He said this has been normal for him and he has also noticed it on some other people's batches. Has others experienced this? He says that he just strains it out and uses the baby for every new batch.
