Guest guest
OMG I'm so sorry to hear about your back, Donna! You are doing the right thing by laying off of it! As utterly boring as that Peggy Cappy dvd is, I tell ya IT WORKS and has saved me from reinjuring my back. I would do that like MWF, use your own music (even hard rock if necessary to liven it up) have your cat nearby to pet while doing certain boring poses and you'll get through it! Go see your chiro for an adjustment! I wish I had had Dr. No in my life when I hurt my back last year!Hugs

Guest guest
Thanks - and thanks for that suggestion. I will have to stop by the library to pick it up - it is a good one for a bad back. I think I will also see if they have Yoga For Scoliosis - which is also a good one for injured backs. My chiro is off on Thursday, but I"m gonna see him tomorrow - it will help and the positive thing is I do recover much faster these days. But I will plan to take it easy for a few days, at least. Thanks for understanding!Donna To: exercisevideos Sent: Thu, October 21, 2010 11:05:54 AMSubject: Re: Thurs - Sweat 3/4 and BUMMED OMG I'm so sorry to hear about your back, Donna! Guest guest
Ugh, I'm so sorry Donna! Take care of yourself! D   Hi Everyone, Today I did Sweat 3/4 from the original P90 series. It was ok - set up like P90 Masters Sweat 5/6 - you do " drills " each for 30 seconds and there are 3 drills in each " set " that you the repeat 3X. At the end, Tony does a series of kickboxing moves - also drill like - punching and kicking combos, no choreography. The drills are super basic - jumping jacks, running in place, etc. There is one drill set where he has an " X " on the floor and you do various agility moves using the X. I didn't have an X - so I just used imaginary lines. Anyway, this one was ok - but I think I like the drills in 5/6 better. Also, I somehow managed to completely throw my back out - mostly sacrum/SI joint. I'm not sure if it was this workout - or just the cumulative effect of these workouts over the last three weeks that did me in. I know that Tony does a lot of forward bending moves, both in the actual exercises and in the warm-ups and cool downs. I think it may have finally caught up with me. I have also been adding on my own yoga which is probably not helping the situation any, either as I'm not making " wise " choices with my yoga. I think some forward bending is ok for me, but I think this has all been too much. So, lesson learned, I need to modify. I think I found good modifications for the bent over rows - propping my foot up on a step or stool has helped, but I think I need to be more cautious with/ possibly avoid some/all/most of the forward bending in the yoga and warm-ups/cool downs.  So, if things don't improve I'm probably going to have to do an active recovery week next week - where I mostly walk and do Pilates/restorative yoga/classical stretch. It also didn't help me any that I had a really long commute this morning (Traffic, accidents) and when my back is getting angry, sitting still is not a good thing for it!  Trying to be positive, but as all of you with injuries and chronic conditions know, it is a pain in the butt to aggravate a weak area and have to take some time off to heal.  - unless something dramatic happens today, I think Burn Intervals is being postponed until a later date. In spite of it all, I do want to continue with this rotation, so, if necessary, I will do an active recovery week next week and then just resume with Week 4 the following week! *SIGH* Take care, Donna
