Guest guest
I am short and small framed and always had to watch what I ate because the pounds go on quickly around my middle which is the worst area for future medical problems from weight. In stage 4 and ESLD from fluid and weight gain I went up about 10 sizes. I lost the fluid from ascites after my transplant but because of complications in my tp surgeries - yes I needed 2 tp surgeries to complete it 4 days apart medical complications swelling fluid and meds I was still huge for some time. After tp I developed post - tp diabetes hard to control both swings low and high sugars. I was very fortunate the forced diabetic state cleared after a while. I watched what I ate very carefully especially portion sizes and still try to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle for my medical needs. My tp was in March and by the next summer I was back down to my ideal weight and have stayed there for the past 6+ years despite all my medical problems and didn't use those as an excuse for being overweight. A healthy diet is very important weight loss can be achieved and maintained even with medical problems and activity is limited. Just like many things diet and a healthy lifestyle is our choices to make and maintain. Food - food choices and the amount is not comfort or for soothing depression or emotional or medical problems. Food is fuel for our bodies and to sustain life. I eat to live not live to eat. Deb
