Guest guest
Hi, My name is Diane. I am a 40-something preschool teacher who dreams of being a farmer. I am getting into the fiber world with French Angora rabbits and my two sheep. I have a black Finn wether, Sheldon and a oatmeal colored with brown spots /Finn cross wether, Leonard. (named from the tv show Big Bang Theory, my teens named them!) I also have a variety of chickens for laying, mostly big fat hens, two ducks, three BIG dogs - all rescues and a massive Quarter Horse mare named River. I just put a deposit down on two MiniNubian doelings to get into the dairy world. I am starting small mostly because they were so cute and if they whole dairy thing doens't work for me, they will still be cute. IF I really get into it, I will more than likely go to the fullsize Nubians. I really like the looks of them and they milk is great. I am TOTALLY new to dairy. I have beeing trading my eggs for raw cows milk and will be getting goats milk from the same person soon. I will be practicing milking and learning from her while bonding with and taming my doelings. I should be allready this time next year to take the plunge! I look forward to all the tips and advice from the experience members on this list. I would love to hear from other Michiganders. Happy kidding! Diane/Michigan
