Hi Supertrainers -- one of my clients has a son 13yrs who suffers from

cerebral palsy he is diagnosed as a spastic quadriplegic but is mainly

affected in the legs; he cannot walk and cannot straighten his legs enough to

lock his knees.

Having tried everything from braces to Botox injections and aggressive post

stretching therapy, hypobaric chamber sessions and numerous other

techniques, they are now considering having a hamstring release operation.

They have been offered in the UK, a procedure that will cut the hamstring,

followed by 2 - 3 weeks in plaster and then further bracing in order to allow

this child to lock his knees. alternatively They have been told about a

clinic in Summit, New Jersey USA run by Roy Nuzzo MD where they feather the

hamstring rather than cut it.They have not been ther yet but have heard good

reports and are considering going to check it out. They have approached me

and asked my opinion on cutting the hamstring or feathering

My question is can anyone comment on this procedure or clinic and can anyone

give information on appropriate treatment? I can supply any more patient

info if needed. It would be great for me to be able to help with this, as my

client has tried desperately to do everything he can for his boy and I would

like to give him the peace of mind of the wealth of experience available on

this forum.
