Guest guest
.. I think I have mentioned this in some form before, but I have to agree with Elly 100%! I never sat still...ever. If there was enough money to be made it was not uncommon for me to work until 10:00 pm (14 hr day), 12:00 AM....with my record being 104 hours in less than 6 full days! Having kids didn't slow me down too much, and if they did it wasn't for long. I remember seeing a " gut " starting to show about 6 months after our first son was born, so I went & joined the YMCA (They had programs for him such as swimming & pre-school) and (prior to their " radical " " modernization improvements " (meant to be sarcastic!) a full blown free weight gym and racquetball courts. I got back into lifting and broke my personal goal of bench pressing over 400 pounds in a shade over 3 years. I went from a dude with a moderate build to where I had to buy all new clothes....for a good reason! Now I have all of the time in the world for my kids. It is there for the wife too, but she shits all over me more times than not...which I suspect is due to my health and the tightening of the belt (so to speak) that she can't seem to stand. Now I coach football (which has turned into the highlight of my year these days), take the kids running (keep them in shape for football in the off-season), take them fishing (that shouldn't count as I used to fish over 150 days per year, so this is a natural to me) and what ever else they want to do. I also am very involved in their school work and pretty much everything they do. I know I would never have neglected my kids intentionally, but I sure wouldn't be as involved as I am now had my health stayed to the good. In a way that's one thing I try to focus on, as everything else around me makes me want to eat a large caliber bullet! My business isn't healthy anymore, my vehicles are all past their primes and now I have to decide whether to sink more money into them or spend what I surely don't have. I rarely do much for myself anymore, and that includes fishing as I got sick of the BASS club I was in as we allowed a bunch of " TFI " 's in who changed it from a gentlemans' club to a major money contest, which even if I could afford is not why I liked to fish competitively in the first place. I haven't even registered my boat yet....and my truck is going to cost me at least 1200.00 to keep it on the road for a while longer..and that is my cost.....triple that for the average consumer! I can't seem to be able to find any side work these days (Thanks to the US Gov't playing party to the mega-rich!) and the amount of meds I'm on alone is depressing....yet I'm still totally exhausted 75% of the time! Oh well, I went off on a rant again........Have a good one, Kirk. PS.....read my signature at the end of everyone of my emails....I can think of no " more true " statement in the world!
