I got this from Terry, who used to be on our group, and she said to pass this info along, so that is what I am doing....since we've recently had discussions of disability issues, it seemed timely! Maybe somebody will benefit from her tips...

Hugs,

Patty

Hello there, good to hear from you! Thank you for your Christmas card. That was nice of you to be thinking of me. I hope you and your family have a happy and healthy New Year.

The testing I did for disability, was one step before I go to school. This is a whole program I am enrolled in(thru the State), disiability will fund(pay) for my schooling(either in full or partial payment), depending on what you would like to do, and your capabilities. They test you for 3 weeks, Monday-Friday, on math, reading skills, vocabulary...ect. Also, it is to see physically, if you are able to be somewhere on an everyday basis with the type of disability you have. There are tests all day, everday. This way they can see what kind of level you are on, educatiion wise, and where you can be placed, and then decide what step will be best for you to go to next. Scince I may not be able to work on a Fulltime basis(yet!!), I will be going to a Technical School(part-time program). I am going to learn office skills, and book-keeping and accounting too! I would like to adventually become a Legal

Secretary. I am fortunate I found this program. I had NO idea that the State offered this. They will work around my Fibro/CFS too!! And I can work PT and keep my Medical Benefits, and still get a portion of my Soc.Sec. Disabiltiy. This is something for others with disabilites to look into!! Pass it along, if you know of anyone looking to work with a disability! I think it is offered in other States?? I have another meeting with my Counsler at the end of the month, so I will let you know when I start school.

I hope your back feels better soon! I will keep in touch throughout the New Year and let you know how life goes. It is a long tough road for sure, living with a Chronic illness. If it is not one thing, it is another.......

Take care, peace, health and happiness for the New Year..TERRY __________________________________________________
