Guest guest
For those of you watching the CA ongoing raw milk dramas (or as Mark class it, the raw milk fireworks), our district senator, Dean Florez, held an amazing six hour hearing (supposed to start at 3:00 p.m. but had to wait for Transportation Committee to finish their agenda). Copies of the hearing can usually be gotten through the CA state archives - http://www.senate.ca.gov/~newsen/audiotv/TVDUBS.HTP Collete Cassidy of Claravale Dairy, reported that based on the new AB 1735 requirements, their dairy was one week away from being shut down (for exceeding the 10 coliform limit) - talk about having the wolf at the door. Note that the testimony proffered by those in favor of that unrealistic standard were promoting the European model of 100 coliforms which would be fine with our CA raw milk dairies, apparently not aware of what they were testifying for. Sally Fallon's testimony was spot on which is why CDFA refused to show up. They would be held accountable for their spurious methods used to attack raw milk and form their statistics; case in point, the testimony dating back to Alta Dena cases from 30 years ago. Needless to say, it was extraordinarily enlightening for everyone that was able to hear it (with more vegans there than you would ever want to see; however, do note that Organic Pastures does also sell grass-fed beef so that was not the focus. Here is a comprehensive though abridged report: http://organicpastures.com/e_letter_12_post.html L.
