worried about your appearance post-explantation?

My explantation is scheduled for this Wednesday. I have read several of your letters concerning your fears about your appearance post explantation. I would like to put your fears in perspective. When my breast cancer was diagnosed in February, 1995, I opted for a bi-lateral mastectomy with saline implants. So, next Wednesday, when my implants are removed, I will have no breasts at all. However, while my appearance will be forever altered, my hope is that I have made a decision that may return me to good health. I hope that all of you will find improved health and a new sense of empowerment as you decide to take your health into your own hands.
