Guest guest
, If you haven't played with KOH, I would suggest you do a batch of liquid soap first to get the feel of the process first. KOH rumbles when you add it to water and it can be a little frightening for some, one starts thinking it is alive... Snowdrift also has a recipe for liquid soap and you need to test the ph at the end as well. There is a little book by Failor called Cream Soap, you can get it from Brambleberry I think. Snowdriftfarm also has recipes for cream soap, but I suggest you decrease the recipe volumes as your first time will be experimental and the castor one uses quite an amt of it. This recipe was not completely what I was expecting and I could not get it to fluff up like I expected. Failors method is a little different to the Snowdrift one. Failors method uses super creaming which is whipping it up after a period of time using stearic etc, you need some way to test the ph as well. Also there is a group on yahoo for cream soap, one of the ladies there has built a calculator which can be purchased for a small fee. I use soapmaker but cannot use it for formulating cream soap, it's a different ball game altogether. I have talked to them and until they get someone who is an expert on cream soap they will not make the addition. I have found a method to work around this though as soapmaker is my materials inventory, cost and stock controller. Take note of the possibility of mushroom-soufle effect gone mad when cooking the soap. Everyone has their theory, but I definetly know that no amt of stirring will stop it from trying to overflow and if it does it is still caustic. I have had the joys of this, all over the stove and down the sides of the pot, what a mess, just like the thing was possessed. This is caused by heat and heat alone, too much heat, just like when you rebatch in the microwave the soap puffs up. Get the pot to a half full sink of cool water and get the pot cooler and stir like mad. Now, got the soap behaving put it back on the heat in the double boiler and keep cooking it. Others use a crock pot, I never have so I don't know about this method. Any probs, let me know. Cheers Sharon P.S. If the first batch is not real successful heres what I did with it, add some eucalyptus, tea tree or pine Eo's some pumice, bit of ground sea weed, colour light green. Put it in a small bucket and it lives in my gardening shed, when I want to wash dirt off my hands from gardening it's there. Excellent stuff even though it doesn't look real appealing. > Thanks Sharon, guess I'm going to have to look for a formula for it. > > Green > > AJ's Udder Delight Oberhasli Dairy Goats > AJUD Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats > http://AJUD.com > > UDDERly DELIGHTful Goatmilk Soap Products > http://udderlydelightful.com > >
