And as for the BSE animals, I agree with you on that one - that's why we need TESTED cows at slaughter, not TAGGED cows with the NAIS. A tag on a cow never stopped a disease and it never will. The EU and Japan are testing all at slaughter and they have indeed found young cattle not showing any symtoms who are testing positive for BSE. So why is the USDA pushing for the NAIS and won't let producers test for BSE even though some of them want to (like Creekstone)? The USDA says, " It's not *good science*. " What a bunch of baloney. They are just protecting their corporate buddies, and the NAIS is about getting rid of COMPETITION - anyone who is growing their own food. JMHO. > > Your economy is in the toilet. Think > they are going out and > buying steak.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The cattle prices fell a year ago when the border was opened - not last fall when the economy fell in. They were already down by then. It's easy to look at the last 15 years and see when and where the prices went up and down and what was happening at the time that caused them to do that. We follow the commodity markets because our family is beef/wheat ranchers/producers. My husband and I used to own a grain elevator and feed store in Oklahoma. Anita in Arkansas - where we are still fighting to get our Freedom to Farm Act through here in Arkansas and being told that DON TYSON is who we are fighting behind the scenes with the senators that are refusing to let our bill come back up for a vote again. Utah is now the FIFTH state to have a law limiting the NAIS to voluntary. Anyone want to move to Utah now? :-)
