There's nothing wrong with taking some P.T.O. whether it's stills related or you just feel like being a bum for a bit. From the sounds of it, you really did need to just rest, so please brush that guilt aside. Hope you feel like your " battery " is recharged again. Guest guest
Carole, this isn't an easy question to answer as I've always been top the point where anything I do is a bonus since getting Stills. Granted, I do a lot of stuff that I'm not supposed to do and have regardless of how bad I feel. If you're looking for someone to tell you you were wrong I'm not the man to do it, as you know if you were feeling poorly enough to take the time off. It sounds to me like you feel guilty, sort of like the kid who " almost " got caught with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar, but the only one who has any control over that is you. Knowing what Stills does to a lot of us, I'm impressed that you're working as much as you are. In you're situation I would try not to think of it as you seem torn by yourself, and guilt equates to a load of stress...which is not exactly what the Dr. ordered. It also sounds like you have a caring husband & boss which is great. Try not to look at it as taking 8 days off, but view it in the light that you worked all of the days you did work as I'm sure they far outweigh the days off. Maybe that will help you feel better. I can use myself as an example. Since becoming disabled due to Stills I still go down to my garage every chance I get. I'd be lying if I said I " never " did any work, but generally I don't. I do run some errands and such and still have the ability to diagnose many different problems even though I won't be the one repairing them. Some would consider this " work " , but I need to do it for my sanity. I don't draw an income from the shop as I'm unable to be there on a consistent basis. There will be times when I don't come down for weeks at a time depending on my body. I also still do as much as I can around the house, with some of the things being potentially devastating to my body such as lifting, climbing, contorting my body into some painful positions, etc etc.... If my RD, PCP or Pain Dr knew I'd be in deep! My only justification is that I despise feeling worthless, although compared to who I was prior to this I am. I also can't afford to pay someone else to do many of the things that need to be done, so I have no choice but to do them myself. Then there are the days when I can't do anything, but for how many around me doubt it, I truly can't when I don't. My point is for you to stop beating yourself up! If you're hurting, sick or whatever I think you have the justification to take time for yourself. Hope this finds you feeling less guilty, and better. Guest guest
Carole, I bet that if you took a poll, you would find the majority, at one time or another, has " stretched " it a bit (or more). Like you I am type A and a bit of a workaholic. Have never done the whole week gammit before. Of course, I am currently on short term disability from work, so, does that count? And it is Still's related, but just aching to get back to work. More power to you. Did it help? By the way, my current " out " is, " bear with me, damn it, it's the PREDNISONE " . (currently at 60mg and holding after tapering fromo 80mg.) Fuzzy > > Hi Guys, > > I did something last week that I'm feeling rather guilty about, but know I > needed to do it. Guest guest
Carole, I just finished filling out all of the FMLA paperwork for my work-free summer--as of tomorrow, I've got 13 weeks off. Even though I have the sick time to use (over 1400 hours of sick and vacation time saved up!), I worked myself into a tizzy about taking the time. Like you, I felt like I COULD work, could push through the pain and fatigue, could " muddle " along. But you know what? Sometimes you need to give yourself permission to NOT muddle along. That's the problem with being a tough cookie. I say NO GUILT to you. Good for you for taking the time off to rest. I'm sure you needed it, and I'm sure you'll need to do it again. Don't forget that you're not just dealing with physical pain and fatigue but also all of the emotional/psychological issues related to chronic illness, and that kind of stress can be incredibly draining. My summer plan includes a lot of guilt-free reading and floating in the lake! /Maine > > > > Hi Guys, > > > > I did something last week that I'm feeling rather guilty about, but > know I > > needed to do it.
