Guest guest
I am a reasonably new homebrewer and I started with a 1 gallon glass sun-tea type container with an approximate 8 " opening at the top. I successfully brewed 2 very tasty batches right off the bat, first try. Your standard black tea, 1 cup of sugar per gallon however, this was not enough to get me through to the next batch so I purchased a larger, 2 gallon glass vessel so I could brew more. I transfered the original SCOBY from the 1 gallon to the 2 gallon and a nice SCOBY grew around the original SCOBY I had. I was quite impressed. Sadly, when it came time to bottle my KT was lacking some of the flavor I liked so much. Same recipe, same location, nothing really changing except the container size. I may have bottled it a smidge too early but it was quite fizzy. Does the size of the container and/or it's opening have any effects on the original KT flavor?
