I Just rang them to ask about this and was told yes you pay an hourly fee to Janos for the tuition so I asked what are we paying the £500 for then? Because he can only do it at weekends...........yes, so why is he not being paid out of the £500 same as he would be if we went to the centre???

So if you have to pay the centre £500 and then pay him for his tuition time this is twice as expensive and therefore not worth it for me, I don't begrudge paying him for his time him travelling or his expenses but I'm not going to pay the £500 to centre (who apparently don;t pay him out of that like they would in the week???)and then pay him again. Makes no sense at all.

He is out at lunch at present but is calling me back tomorrow to explain

Will update when I have spoken to him. When I booked I was told normal tuition fees plus travelling and expenses for Janos, so this is all news to me

Mandi x

I think I was told he charges an hourly rate on top of the normal TST fee ,is this not the case ? xx

Nope. just called and asked when he could come, he was getting pretty booked up, we took a date just after new years that was free. He is happy to stay in family home if you have a spare room which would save on accommodation in hotel costs, we'll keep him fed and watered and pay travelling expenses. You do have to do it at the weekend as he is needed in the centre during the week, especially more recently as has been poorly. Tuition fees are the same as if you went to the centre.

This will work out much cheaper for me and much less stressful as when I am away I still have to be in contact several times per day for the business, pay somebody to cover me and hotel expenses for me and from Sam's school. I think he is planning to drive to us but might be better if he took a train up to you as its much further, they are always helpful if you ring.

Mandi, was it complicated to set up Janas coming to you. We are hoping to do this for the next set but not spoke with centre about it yet. Not sure if it will be an option because of distance. We are in Rotherham near Sheffield.

Thanks Tracey, I thought it was the whole weekend and all the fees again, they don;t explain it well. So this is like an enhanced fee for working weekends which is not unreasonable

Hi Alison and Mandi

I thought that it might be helpful to explain how weekend at home TST tuition works.

A little while ago, when the centre was not as busy as it is nowadays, Janos was able to spend a few days during the week with people at their home. This is not the case anymore. He is busy 5 days a week at the Centre and at this time all TST therapy is offered under the banner of Advance Centre. There are NO independent therapists at all.

and her staff are very aware of the logistical difficulties of families getting to the centre, and the ancillary costs of accommodation and additional support either at the centre or at home whilst families learn new techniques.

Janos agreed to give up a few of his weekends to go to families homes and do a few days of intensive one on one tuition. This is done as an employee of the Centre with a premium attached to the standard charges to cover his costs of giving up a weekend, and the transportation costs and accommodation.

The normal training for each set of exercises is 10 hours of tuition. which costs £500.

To this Janos adds the costs of travelling- usually he goes by train and he then makes an additional charge of £10 per hour of tuition

An example of this would be a visit to a family in London - for example

Standard TST costs for 10 hours tuition £500

Janos' out of Centre tuition premium @ £10 per hour for 10 hours £100

Travelling time- charged only for time actually spent on train @£10ph £ 50

Total before adding transport costs eg train fare and accommodation

and meals if hehas to stay somewhere other than your home. £650

This is a lot cheaper than coming into the centre for the normal 5 days, accommodation and other costs and is only made possible because at this time Janos is willing to give up a small number of his weekends. The normal working hours of the centre are similar to most other health or educational establishments- Monday to Friday only.

I hope that this provides a clearer understanding of what the costs are of having Janos teach TST in your home. I know that our accommodation costs even for 2.5 days would far exceed the very small premium which is being levied in order to provide this privilege of being able to learn TST in your house.

Best Wishes

Tracey

Thanks for passing this on Mandi

Thanks Tracey.  This is very useful. will contact Janos in the next week or so.  For him to visit us is so much more convenient as we also have Charlies sister and because of her health complications we cannot leave her with anyone.  Also weekends are so much better as if in week would have to take unpaid leave so costs get really silly .

It will work out much cheaper and convenient for Janos to come to us if he is willing to do so.Once again Tracey thanks.Alison R
