Good ideas!

I know it's not USDA approved, but I will be canning milk this fall to have for kids and will freeze for house use.

You're welcome to also join my food group if you'd like recipes for all those ideas!

We do lots of things with the extra:

Raise bottle goats, pigs, calves, lamb

Feed the cats and dogs

Fatten the hogs

Soak grain for chickens

Fill the freezer with butter for the winter baking

Ours does end up feeding critters and if you don't have critters you could do

what one of our neighbors does, take baths! They can't get rid of their milk,

not even at $4 a gallon but they have the best looking skin!

Hope this helps.

freezing some of it for use with the babies this winter/spring but what about

for home use? I am making cheese up the wazoo but the kids only eat so much of

it. Has anyone made evaporated milk and canned it? I think Pumpkin pie calls

for that type of milk. I raise goats and will be adding milking sheep this year

as well. And next year a Jersey cow. So I really need to find something to do

with all this milk!

Make Kefir!Fermenting is natures way of preserving and enriching foods, and milk is no exception.  I have kept kefir in the fridge for 6 months, and it was wonderful.  A bit tart, but fine just the same.  If you have refrigerator space, it its a great way to preserve your milk and have plenty of nutrition for the off season.  If you need grains to get you started, email me off list.
