Honey unfortunately you are facing 1 of the hardest stumbling blocks - no insurance or not enough personal insur coverage - on state assistance which may not cover your tx and many other extremely expensive Hep C health care especially if we see Dr's in their private practices and offices. A pt's geno type is tested for to determine the strain or strains of Hep C with medical care and treatment tailored to that geno type. No that doesn't sound right and your Dr advising you without knowing your geno type and complete labs and testing results ordered especially if he ordered it. The medical profession here in the states is not perfect or equal to all pt's and their medical care and by their financial and insurance status but don't panic. Hopefully there is a Gastro/Hep C medical teaching university and clinics near you for a complete evaluation - medical care - treatment and follow-up which includes full care from 1st dx'ed - tx and all stages of HCV and liver disease. Some of our more aggressive and complete medical care and tx is from teaching clinics. I was 1st dx'ed into stage 3 complications and was referred to the top Hepatologist/Research Specialists and medical team available in my area that has followed me since than and was part of my Transplant Team. I'm not saying everyone and you will need a transplant team or will advance down all the stages and into ESLD. We all are different and our HCV and progression responding to tx or not. I had and have a very aggressive form of Hep C from massive amounts of tainted blood transfusions that is more aggressive chronic harder to tx and clear because of the amount of HCV and very possibly multiple strains and mixed geno's when I contracted it that has mutated to 1 hell of a mean combined mother

and combined with my other abby normal ongoing medical problems. Along the way I ended up needing to see my Hep C Specialists many times a week and when they could not fit me in their private offices and practices they sent me to the teaching clinics to see them. Yep same Dr's and team and if welfare state medical assistance pt's reached ESLD they were switched from the clinic site to the same Transplant Teams private office and Transplant Hospital. It is our jobs as the pt's to make sure we receive our proper

medical care and tx and search until we do so. We have the best source of info a computer and search window. If it was me I would search for Hepatitis C Hepatologists or Gastro Dr's trained and treating HCV pt's in my area know my area what is available to me for proper health care going to the best that accepts my insurance or no insur and teaching clinics that do. I betcha someone is going to say the same things and sum it up clearly in only a few words. :) I don't

write that much. I use size 3 text and skip lines. That didn't work. Yes I explain a lot because I have and still going through a great deal for many years with my Hep C which may help others and our quiet members too. Love and Hugs. Which I found kind of irritating the bloodtest was done two months ago.
