Guest guest
Dear You gotta a day like that!! Savour it for all it's worth! Last night after dinner we were all out in the yard doing our things (repairing sprinklers for the adults, slaying pretend dragons (tall weeds) for the boy, and catching bugs for Annie to feed to the scorpion she caught last week and named Lilly). Annie asked Ben if he wanted to come up the hill (open land) behind our house and catch bugs. He said no, not just then. And she said " O.K. " WELL... In our household, when Ben says no to his sister's ideas and she just lets it go, it's a red letter day. Both my husband and I looked at each other and said, " wow " . If this is the Risperdal, I'm loving it. Usually she would nag, bug, obsess him to death until either we intervene or she gets mad and storms off. Sometimes these little things give you a lot of encouragement!! (what do normal families get excited about, I wonder?)

Guest guest
Today was a nice day! We went to an annual festival held here for the community at a nearby college today. They had a " rock climbing " wall there. I was surprised and pleased when wanted to try it. 's the one who is always outside running thru the woods, climbing trees.... 's the one who stays inside usually. So I paid the $5 each for them to try. The wall was 24.5 feet up. did really well, got 1/2 way up, maybe a little more, then had to stop, though he was a little awkward about getting down. They had him tied to a rope so basically just had to jump or push out to go down slowly. made it to the top! Not surprising, though he said he got shaky and scared when he looked down; of course I said " you NEVER look down! " You could try the HARD side for $10 and win $100 if you got to the top. If was just a few inches taller I'd have let him but there was a space 1/2 way up with not much to grab. PLUS, on the way home from the festival I bought some french fries for each for the ride home and noticed ate them WITHOUT having to wash his hands first! He's not a " handwasher " OCDer in that he constantly washes them all the time but he used to eat without HAVING to wash first if it wasn't convenient as he was growing up. Last few months he won't eat at ALL unless he can wash his hands first or will have to use a paper towel or something to pick up finger food. Noticed after we got the fries today (after climbing wall and walking around) that on the way home he picked them up and ate them! Bet he doesn't even realize it. Then later at home we 3 went out to throw the football, baseball and a regular playing ball, the kind everyone has. No signs of OCD today EXCEPT for constantly asking " can we play dodge ball now??? " That's HIS thing, he'll bug you to death. Obsessed! AND THEN we went in and I finished up supper. Had biscuits with supper. Now one of 's OCD things is having to have help thru the bathroom door, in/out. (Actually sometimes, just my presence, I don't always have to touch him.) Anyway, I don't recall helping him or seeing him go to the bathroom after playing ball. So when we had supper, I'd given him 2 biscuits also. So I'm thinking, cuz I actually didn't pay attention, he also ate those and that he hadn't washed hands before supper! (Gee, now I think about it I guess he should have washed before supper as a general rule....!) Well, it's been a nice, mostly OCD-free day!! But there's still tonight.....!
