~~~~~~~~~~~~ He's 10.... and i am not sure exactly how it infulences the
homework thing. Partly it is his disorganization. Part of it is his anxiety
in general which is realted to the ocd stuff.... he cant relax enough in
school to get his thoughts together to do all he has to do...he is always
concentrating on the next thing he has to do so he never is exactly doing
what heis supposed to be doing...if that makes sense... he is always
worried about being late for the next class so he never gets the homework for
the present class quite written down (things like that).... getting the
homework done is such an issue that once it is done it is forgotten, i
think... i am not sure exactly how those things would fit into a plan
i think it is related to the anxiety in general... and the ocd is part of
that. i am not truly sure if he has been forthcoming, at this point about
*all* of his ocd manifistations... he just told me about the first
compulsions about 2 weeks ago... and it was really hard for him. i think he
has told me...but as hard as it was, i cant be sure
he gets extra time for standardized testing in the plan as it is...and his
teachers are pretty okay about the late homework...the homework not turned
in...was stuff that wasnt turned in ever... the teacher HAD asked for it and
told him what what missing...and he had done it.... but eventually the
report card grades had to be made...
i have actually tried to work with him on this... i have asked him if he
could maybe do things 5 times or 4 times instead of 6 times... and he said
he already tried this and got down to 2 times than he *had* to go back to 8
times before he got back to 6 times... and i worked with him on trying to
get clear on wheter the thoughts here *his* or if they were ocd
thoughts...and to try and boss them back if they were ocd thoughts...or say
" NO! " or that it was okay to do them imperfectly and that it was okay for
him to....for instance... not keep his room clean so maybe he could try NOT
doing things 6 simes...but at the moment he isnt getting anywhere with
bossing back his compulsions. i dont know if it is just the beginning or
there are some i dont know about <sigh>
hope i didnt confuse you with the changing list :) this list seems
more...ummmm.... warm, maybe? lee
