Guest guest
I wanted to do chest and triceps for my first time back at Fitness because it allows for the most face to face conversation but my triceps are sore from Sunday's kettlebell workout. I can't speak at all during the leg workout, as I'm at a " 10 " on the rate of perceived exertion chart and can't carry on a conversation whatsoever, so that left back and biceps, which is my favorite of the three workouts we do anyway. As I made my way to the locker room I noticed a lot of big men jumping rope in the MMA room, the most I'd ever seen there at one time, eight or nine maybe? That made me happy. It's nice to see that room being used! Noel was with someone but I was a tad early so he had me check the schedule for him to see who was next. My name wasn't on there which I thought was odd. Usually he puts me down as Pink. I gave him my envelope with the $ with the dates I'd be in written on it. The drama of the day was that his teenaged daughter beat up her ex-boyfriend who is 6'3 " , which inside I thought was hilarious but of course that's not how the world should resolve their problems so Noel was mad at her (though he himself admits he's been in more fights than he can count). He asked me if I was going to be in on Thursday and I said " Yes, I wrote the dates down on the envelope, as usual " and he goes, " YOU need to write YOURSELF in on the calendar! " I retorted, " Aren't YOU supposed to do that, or am I your secretary now? " I ended up writing myself in. I should have snuck myself in an extra day. Gheesh! It was really great to be back. He went easier on the biceps than usual because it's easy to injure them if you go too heavy too soon and I'm sure I'll be feeling it tomorrow. I said, " yeah you're right " . N - " I'm always right! Come here, I'll show you! " So he shows me this women's bodybuilding bulletin board and shows me how he gave someone advice and how she replied, " Wow the famous Noel Fuller commented on my post! " so he goes, " See, I'm famous! " He thinks I don't believe him *L*. Two of his clients did take first last week, Mr. Arkansas and a figure competitor in New Mexico. I love working out back with Noel because you can't easily get all the angles with workout videos and free weights like you can on these machines. I'm sure by this time tomorrow I'll be seriously hurtin'. Tomorrow's workout is going to be really fun too! My girlfriend and I are going to run up into the West Hills, which is very steep and challenging along with a steep set of stairs. We both have bad knees (she had surgery on hers last year) so we won't get to run the whole thing but it's going to be fun to do what we can. Afterward we are going to dinner with another friend. I would like to start getting up at 4:00 again and resume a.m. workouts. Donna you're my morning workout hero!

Guest guest
Aww.. thanks, ! It helps that DH gets up early for work, too. And, I do go to bed early - I have just trained myself to do it this way. I'd never exercise if I saved it for later in the day! Although, honestly, I think my performance would be better later in the day. Glad you had a good session w/ Noel!Donna I would like to start getting up at 4:00 again and resume a.m. workouts. Although, honestly, I think my performance would be better later in the day. Glad you had a good session w/ Noel!Donna I would like to start getting up at 4:00 again and resume a.m. workouts. Donna you're my morning workout hero!
Guest guest
Excellent, ramble, and I agree 100%! If I don't exercise I simply don't feel good, so even if I have thousands of things on my plate, I need to make time for exercise. I have exercises my whole life and it is just a part of who I am! I hear you on the Aunt Flo thing! This week has been awful, Aunt Flo a week early along with the "joys" of that (moodiness, major headache, desire to eat everything in sight) and then this monster work project and my DH's aunt is ill and we're going to visit her this weekend. She is 95 and recently broke her hip, she is a nursing home and not in a good mental state about it. She has lived independently for her 95 years which is awesome, but this broken hip has really set her back. I hope our visit cheers her up. If all goes well she'll only be in the nursing home for a few months for rehab, and then will be able to go home, but at 95, you just never know. Her sister is 91 and is running herself ragged visiting her, etc. Still, amazing to be that age and able to do as much as they do!Take care - Donna To: exercisevideos Sent: Thu, September 16, 2010 11:52:03 PMSubject: Back and Biceps with Noel What can I say, another stellar workout with Noel tonite! Nothing out of the ordinary to relate, we did the usual 4 back machines and 2 biceps machines. I'm weepy due to Aunt Flo arriving today for her monthly visit and also weepy because I won't be back at the gym for awhile. I'm so broke I have $ for groceries the next couple months and that's about it. Ug! I'm overwhelmed with the amount of housework I have to do tomorrow in preparation for houseguests this weekend but in a way I'm looking forward to being able to have houseguests. So many people have welcomed me into their homes over the years and it's nice to be able now to return the favor to someone else! While I will miss Noel and Fitness very much, I will surely be back at some point and in the meantime I'm having fun drumming up weekly rotations. My first week will be lots of low impact Turbo Kick and Power Yoga. Last week I was on a big Firm/FitPrime kick and I do still want all those FitPrimes, but now I'm eyeballing all my virgin 10 Minute Solutions workouts and now I want to do those! Tomorrow I'll probably want to do something else.I get asked a lot by coworkers and gym folk alike, ", how do you stay so motivated to work out?" It's true, ever since I started working out around 10 years ago I haven't wavered since. I get anywhere from 6-12 hours in a week. The secret for me, and I think you all know it too because you are vidiots like me, is VARIETY! I get bored quickly workout wise. I think all formats are important to practice even though we have our favorites. Every format has something to offer and will work our muscles and cardiovascular system differently. While I'm a cardio junkie, strength and flexibility are equally important for health and I do fit those in.Noel and I were talking today about working out and I said I didn't do it necessarily to look good but that it makes me feel so good to be moving, sweating, and feeling strong. I would seriously be in therapy if I didn't have exercise and kitties in my life! Human beings were made to do this, we weren't made to sit in chairs for 8 hours a day. He agreed, of course. One look at him and you know Noel loves to work out too! And while he is very muscular and in phenomenal shape, he doesn't necessarily revel in hanging out at the big shows because so many of the competitors there are so into themselves and competing with everyone else that there isn't always the camaraderie at these events that you might think. I think that vidiots like us, the home exercisers, in some ways really have an edge; we aren't out to impress, we exercise alone, sometimes in our pajamas and not in our most flattering state. It takes a lot of discipline to be a true vidiot; we make time to fit in our daily workouts without friends at the gym to make sure we get there, we have just ourselves to be accountable to and we still do it! Most people buy workout videos at New Years, do the first two in the series and then quit. We are the minority that actually *does* them, and more than once! We are a rare breed indeed. One thing the gym does offer that we don't get, however, is correction on form from a trainer or an aerobics instructor. I've seen some BAD form in workout videos, and while I might know the difference from having taken gobs of master classes, certifications and workshops as an aerobics instructor, a beginner might not..Okay, done rambling! Guest guest
I loved this post! I agree, variety is what keeps me going. I loved my Spring and Summer of cycling and Power Hour, and I've enjoyed my yoga recovery, and now I am ready for something different. If I only rode, I would burn out. If I only worked out indoors, I would burn out. Exercise and kitties!!!In regards to form corrections, that is a wonderful thing. I'll tell you what surprised me. When I did Crossfit earlier this year, they kept telling me my form was good. I was relieved. I had taken strength training in college, and am also grateful to form pointers I've gotten here, and on other lists. I was still surprised, though, because I'm mostly an exercise loner! Take care, What can I say, another stellar workout with Noel tonite! Nothing out of the ordinary to relate, we did the usual 4 back machines and 2 biceps machines.
