Guest guest
I don't know how many of you know, but the Texas legislature and Gov. have made HB 1919 a law that goes into effect on September 1, 2007. This bill requires insurance companies to cover children with autism for therapies including ABA and nutritional supplements. A lot of the insurance companies think this bill died on the house floor because the original one did and they ameneded HB 1919 to include the autism clause one week before the end of the legislature session. They piggybacked this on in with a bill that deals with brain trauma injuries. Those of you with insurance may want to notify your insurance companies now and find out what the procedure will be to qualify your child/children for services. I am really proud of Sen. Luci for his efforts in getting this bill passed. He has been working really hard on it. The site with the bill is http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlodocs/80R/billtext/doc/HB01919F.doc You will have to copy and paste the entire thing to get to their site and then you can read the bill for your self. I hope this is helpful to some of you, I know some insurance companies will not help after your child turns 6 but some will. Thanks, Gwen
