Sent to Lorraine and her agentsI watched your interview with Wakefield earlier this week and I have to say I was really disappointed in you. There are one in 40 boys and one in 125 girls in this country now affected by Autism - these are little babies that started off developing normally and then suddenly lost all their skills and retreated into a very distressing state indeed. Can you imagine the outcry there would be if this number of children were going blind every day with no explanation. Our families are being let down by the media, the Health and Education Services and the Government in general because of the controversy that is being fuelled by high powered marketing departments of pharmaceutical companies.Most of us parents who are living with this are now full time carers, we used to be professionals. So we are looking to sane intelligent people to work on our behalf to find out the answers to why this is happening and fuel the political will to sort it out, not least to prevent more children falling.Your behaviour was not only unprofessional, your interview skills were completely absent. Interviewing, if you didnt realise, involves one person asking a question and allowing the other person to answer. I am interested in what Wakefield has to say. His studies - which I have read - along with the other studies that replicate his findings - have you? - helped me to provide solutions for my son that not only ceased the constant pain he was living in, but also enabled him to start to interact with the family in a meaningful way.No parent has ever complained about Dr Wakefield - the whole expensive GMC trial was initiated by a journalist - Deer - who has his own agenda that we can only guess at.I suggest you stop relying on marketing puffs and press releases for your data Lorraine - you are seriously letting down alot of Mums right now.Mel Thomsett
