Guest guest
Hi Is the rice milk (rice dream) safe for kids under 5 yrs ? The carton indicates consult your Dr for kids less than 5. My son is 3.5 yrs old. Thanks Rajesh
Guest guest
Rejesh, make sure it says GLUTEN FREE. Even with this, most rice contains arsenic so it's truly a concern. Organic will be better and use brown rice if you can. I steam my own non GMO organic rice and made the rice milk when my son was very ill. I allow some organic rice milk from the box now, but rarely. It says consult doctor meaning it doesn't supply nutrients as formula for the needs of a infant. Meaning don't substitute this for formula. You are using this to substitute cow milk so this is fine. I encourage you to supplement D3, essential fatty acids, and lots of leafy greens when you can for calcium. Whole foods has UNsweetened organic br rice milk. > > Hi > > Is the rice milk (rice dream) safe for kids under 5 yrs ? The carton indicates consult your Dr for kids less than 5. Guest guest
Rice dream is made with barley (gluten) in the process, and retains gluten in the rice milk, but under the 20 ppm (parts per million) the government says it can have and still be labeled " gluten free " A lot of rice is grown in the central US on old cotton fields (Texas included), which were repeatedly sprayed with arsenic, and it is still in the soil years later.  If it is used in moderation, you should be fine giving it to your son.  He doesn't " need " any milk, there are other natural food sources of calcium, but if he likes milk on his cereal that should be ok. West Soy brand Rice milk is gluten free, and Pacific rice milk is also gluten free and organic.Bonnie, mom to 11/27/04, Autism, Albinism, Hyperlexia  Hi Is the rice milk (rice dream) safe for kids under 5 yrs ? Guest guest
Why would it have arsenic in it? I had no idea I have been giving my son rice milk since he was 2 and a half due to allergies to milk and soy he also drinks chocolate hemp milk I always get the gluten free and I get the organic rice dream when they have it it is fortified Subject: Re: Rice milk for less than 5 yr oldTo: Texas-Autism-Advocacy Date: Friday, August 7, 2009, 5:48 PM Rejesh, make sure it says GLUTEN FREE.
