Guest guest
Dear , Don't be too discouraged yet. Your daughter is still on a very low dose of Celexa for OCD, and it hasn't hit it's maximum potential yet anyway. Give it a little longer - and if that doesn't work, ask her doc to up the dosage. My daughter is doing really well on 10 mg. but she has always been super sensitive to SSRIs, and most of her improvement is due to therapy anyway, I think. The Celexa improves her mood so much that she is more able to fight the OCD on her own. The logical/biological approach works for us too so far - we have explained all about germs and immunity and the need to be exposed to some germs to be healthy. But once a child gets an obsession with germs, no logic in the world will help I'm afraid. OCD is NOT a logical disease!! (Which is why we can tell Annie a billion times that she is NOT going to throw up because she is not sick, and she doesn't hear us.) I hope you can access some therapy for your daughter soon. It has made a world of difference for us - just make sure you get someone experienced in treating OCD with ER & P therapy! Best wishes - hang in there!
