Guest guest
Greetings group, I wanted to ask for your opinions/suggestions on training an individual with high blood pressure (taking medications) who wants to increase their muscle mass. I know that common practice for hypertensive individuals is to use circuit-style training, avoiding isometric contractions and holding one's breath, as well as staying away from decline-type exercises/positions. My idea is to use low-to- moderately heavy weight - as one would normally do when training for hypertrophy - but avoiding approaching failure, and having the client stay active (i.e. walk around) in between sets instead of actually doing another weight-training exercise (in order to maintain intensity for the given exercise and adhere to 30-90s rest periods). Any advice is much appreciated. Regards, Habeeb Ahsan Mississauga, ON, Canada
