For better or for worse, it is clear that the " raw milk war " is taking a toll on DATCP.  Regardless of your feelings about Ingham personally (he seemed to me to be one of the more reasonable people at Food Safety) this is a testament to the necessity and power of grassroots organizing.  I can't imagine the next chief of Food Safety is going to let the likes of Jackie Owen, Cheryl s, Glenn Goldscmidt, or , get away with the kinds of blatant crimes against family farmers and consumer choice they have been committing for the last 9 months.

One is still left to wonder when they are actually going to start taking raw milk safety seriously, rather than just knee-jerk prohibitionism, and if they intend to also legalize raw milk cheeses under 60 days, raw butter, raw cream and cultured cream products, etc... or try to limit it to only fluid raw milk (ironically, the highest risk product of any)?

It is still important to keep up the grassroots pressure more intensely than ever, because we know that the dairy processing industry is mobolizing their forces behind the scenes right now for the next round of this battle.
