Guest guest
Hi all, I have just learned from my 27 year old daughter that she has been experiencing something odd for a year or so. Every couple of months, 3 lymph nodes on the back of her neck will swell up and become hard and in some cases visible under the skin. They stay like this for 1-2 weeks. During this 1-2 week period, she also gets a headache across the back and top of her head, and her sinuses become quite swollen but produce no mucus. Also, her ears become " plugged " , produce dark wax, and she has difficulty hearing. Her doctor has no idea what is going on and prescribed antihistimines and decongestants. A lot of tests were run but turned up nothing. The decongestants helped the sinus pressure, but that's about it. Also, since 2 years ago, she has had occasional episodes where her heart beats very rapidly and hard. These episodes last 1 or 2 hours and almost always begin at night and wake her up. They don't seem to be connected to her dreams (no nightmares, etc.). She has also been having occasional incidents of forceful palpitations since these heart racing episodes began. She has been running a low-grade fever off and on for two years. The lymph nodes and palpitation incidents do not occur at the same time, but she feels in her gut that they are related. Also starting 2 years ago she frequently experiences something strange bronchially. Like there is mucus or congestion, so she coughs a few times and feels and breathes better, but no mucus is coughed up. She is an art director in Washington DC, doesn't smoke, drinks minimally, and eats conscientiously. She takes a daily birth control pill (for 10 years). No other prescription or over-the-counter drugs except for an occasional Tylenol. Does anyone have a clue what might be going on with her? Your help much appreciated. Thanks, Dave
