>>>yup that would work...they may not go up in it, they just get washed out.

they dont go into the pot, they would drown. one time i used a little craft

cork and stuck it up there, it worked good, but sometimes dropped out. the

plastic wrap is good, hopefully they will leave it alone. i am fighting them

now, but they seem to be under control. they are on the produce you bring

home, then they hatch at the house...i hate the little monsters<<<

Since they would not be able to go past the stopper, I suppose you could

probably use a q-tip to clean the spout out each time then too, if you find that

easier. I will try both ways myself and see which one works for me.I'm starting

with a sandwich bag so I have less seams.

I had not thought of veggie purchases being the carriers of the eggs. (I'll

admit that sometimes I can be sooo thick!) All the more reason to wash veggies

really good and do it as soon as you get in the door with your groceries, I

guess. As much as I hate bugs of ANY kind in my house, I would rather have fruit

flies than the ants that I had two years ago. I was completely mortified. They

were coming in my front door by the millions! I was killing them by frantically

putting sheets of paper on the floor and just pressing over and over for days,

then wiping up the floor. YUK. They came in waves! Since then I have discovered

Diatomaceous Earth and so I know exactly what I will do if I have anything like

that again. I have no idea where they came from in such great number and why

they were coming in my front door, which accesses my living room. I could maybe

see if that accessed my kitchen and they smelled food, but my kitchen was the

last place they headed to and I had fought them back pretty completely before

many reached there. I never had ants nearly like that. People said they are bad

in this new area I live in and boy did I get scared when so many told me that.

But they haven't been back, so I sure am happy about that.

IIIIIII Think I'll just throw my scraps out daily. It might be alot less trouble

for me. That just sounds too scary to me.

That's funny! :) What a great job that was. It has sure helped me! It pays to

get around and ask around. We all learn from each other. I didn't know about

windex and 409 so those are even easier than the powdered mess DE would make. I

suppose it's the chemicals in the cleaners that would do them in. I've heard

that a solution of lemon dish washing liquid and baking soda sprayed where they

come in creates a barrier line that they will not cross. They don't like lemon,

I was told. But a dishwashing liquid does not really have lemon in it. It's

probably just the chemicals in the cleaner that create the barrier.
