Janick -

If working out is becoming a chore - let it go for a while. Your resentment

toward fitness will only grow if you don't. Listen to your body. Your

workouts will be there when your enthusiasm is ignited again. It sounds like

you are burning your candle at both ends and you need to give the fitness

thing a rest. You'll know when the time is right again. Don't let fitness

become another stress in your life.....it's the one stress you can control.

Take it easy!

I don't have any advice but I do have plenty of well wishes. I do agree with

the others that you are pushing too hard. I don't mean to sound like I want

to sabotage your quest for fitness but maybe two days a week of exercise

would give you a little more time to just breathe. In any event, I want you

to feel better so however you work this out, I just want you to be happy.

Hang in there and know that we are all thinking of you.

Hello everyone and Janick!! Wow, I have to say that reading Janicks post, was

very similar to what I was going to post. I too am very busy, run down and

exhausted. This has been an extremely stressful and unpleasant semester for

me. First my stipend money was 2 months late, and that was a huge mess, all

due to my wonderful State of California who did not pass the budget, and kept

delaying. Arggh!! Finally got that, but my motivation has been zero as far as

school work. I have hated writing every paper I have written this semester.

Glad I am almost done. We all worked so hard last year, that we have very

little to give this year. My whole family, hubby, self, and all three kids

just got over strep throat. that was fun!!

As far as Tae Bo, I have also struggled through many workouts, and

finally just stopped doing them, because, I am officially bored as heck with

my tae bo workouts. I actually went today to see if I could find the Get

Ripped series at Walmart, and they had the 2 pack , where one was the

instructional, and I was not going to spend $25 for it. I also went looking

for the firm tapes, which they did not have. I am having no luck in finding

video tapes, my treadmill is broken, so I am trying to find other things to

do. anyway, I have pretty much plateaued for the past month and a half,

weight is coming off very slowly. I am between 206-208, and 204 will be 50

pounds. I am also mostly sticking to my weight watchers points, but have bad

days.

So, I wanted to say hi, after all that depressing stuff, and I also

rarely read the posts, but i think of you all often and wish I had time to be

involved here, maybe to get some motivation back. Any suggestions on video

tapes that are fun, I am looking into strength training, I do sit ups and leg

lifts everyday almost, but I need life back into my workouts!!! I hope all of

you are well, and if you are not hang in there, my thoughts and prayers

continue to be with all who are effected by 9-11-01, and by yesterdays

tragedy. I am so heart broken!!! It has made me hug and kiss my kids more

than I was before, which was a lot, but now, I tell them constantly that I

love them. Be good to yourself and be good to others!!!

Take Care,

temera

Janick,

You have a lot on your plate right now. It is only normal that working out

seems like just another chore. Perhaps you could view it as an escape route

for all of your pent up frustrations. Hang in there! It is always darker

before dawn! This too shall pass.

Temera,

Hang in there!!!!! Please don't give up! You have come too far to give up

now; losing 50lbs is no small accomplishment! :):) Maybe you are burnt out

on Tae Bo right now. Or maybe life is too hectic right now to enjoy it.

Only you know the answer. If you still want to buy the Get Ripped series,

check out QVC (QVC.com). That's where I've bought all my tapes so far.

There are 5 tapes plus the Impact Intro. You can do it!

Something will have to give, and hopefully it's not your health. Can you

ignore the house work for a while (except for dishes and the wash)? Can you

buy packaged ready-made food for awhile? Or, just accept your limitations

and realize that 3 workouts a week under these conditions is INCREDIBLE!

You are not a superwoman.

Hang in there!

Sorry the last few weeks have been especially hard on

you. I'm glad you are getting at least SOME exercise

in. I hope you find the peace you need to get back to

" normal " . Don't waste away on us now.

Sorry you've been stressed and unmotivated. It's a

MAJOR miracle if the State ever passes a budget on

time. That's one thing that makes me weary to want to

work for them. I know my mom had been affected by

their delays several times and had to get an IOU.

Luckily her bank advanced her the money, so bills were

paid.

I hope you get off the plateau soon. I've been going

on one so long it feels like it's been forever and a

day. I had gained a few pounds (due to miscalculating

the points for something), now those keep going back

and forth and then the rest I was trying to lose I

can't. GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

I hope you're able to find something that you really

enjoy soon.

I am sorry things are so hard for you right now!! Hang in there and know that

things will get better!! I definitely think you should do anything you can to

make life a little easier for you and free up some time for yourself. Looking

for a new job with less of a commute sounds like a great idea! Also, ask

Gilbert to pitch in around the house and help with chores and meals, etc.

Hang in there!!

I hope things get better for you soon!!! When I got really bored with my

workouts, I joined a gym. Having a bunch of new classes to take renewed my

excitement! Is that an option for you? You may be able to get some sort of

student discount. Also, check with your health insurance, some will reimburse

you for the gym membership fee or have special rates for their subscribers.

Temera,

I think we may be going thru a similar " phase " . For me, school work

is taking a toll on me, as well as my job where my boss keeps on

adding and adding to my workload. I hardly see Jordan (maybe at the

most 1 hour a day). The pressure at work is tremendous because we

are going thru a complete reorganization of the department which is

accentuating delays in my work. Also, I'm getting well known as THE

person who can work under pressure and the MOST productive person in

my department. The consequence is I get a larger workload than most

people (because supposedly I can handle it). The problem is that the

more work I have, the faster I want to go, so my fear of making a

major mistake is intensified. I'm in a vicious circle and I don't

know how to get out of it. Thank god I have 2 weeks of vacation

coming up (to be able to catch up on my school workload).

I guess my job is the major stressor right now, but it's having an

impact on everything else in my life. I have nightmares about my job

every single night, so my sleep is not too great (although I do

manage to get 6-7 hours of sleep weekdays, 7-8 hours on weekends). I

appreciate all the words of encouragement I've had so far, because I

really need it.

Janick,

It is good to hear from you. Sorry you are going

through a tough time. I'm kind of run down myself

these days, but I'm no where as busy as you. I think

you just have to realize that you are being pulled in

lots of different directions and are not happy in your

job, so it is really draining you making everything a

struggle. Keep your spirits up, this won't last

forever. I think it's great that you are looking for

a new job. I'm sure that will revitalize you and end

this lassitude (your word, sorry I don't know what it

means) period.

You have so much to be proud of, Temera! Note that you said you " have

written " (or something to that effect) all your papers for school. That is

a great, great accomplishment! You have managed to get through this

semester and still stick to exercise (albeit, not as much as you would like)

and healthy eating. If you have to miss some workouts, don't sweat it!

Knowing you, during the breaks from school, you will make up for the periods

of less exercise. Keep it up!
