Fermenting buckets

I'm new to making Kt, but an old hand at making beer... I have several 5 Gallon

buckets used for making beer, as well as chemicals to sterilize it before use.

Since I'll be splitting my ferment with a family member I was thinking of making

5 Gallons of Kt & just splitting it with them. Since these buckets are a food

grade plastic that are designed to resist the alcohol in the fermenting process,

would they work? There is an air hole made for a bubbler to be inserted in. I

could use the bubbler, this would allow the Kt to exhale the gas from the

fermentation, or not, this would allow for an open gas exchange. Either way the

hole is only about the size of a pencil. Thoughts, ideas?
