Food chaining is introducing foods of a similar texture but different to

increase the amount of food choices we have in offering our son to eat.

For example, our son used to eat pureed potpies. It was decided that

since the chicken was ground up then he might be open to trying a baked

chicken nugget. He was given an extremely small bite, even if he didn't

swallow it, he was successful in biting it. Eventually he got to the

point where he bit a small piece and chewed it and then swallowed it.

From there we moved from Chicken nugget to turkey cubes which texture is

similar to the chicken nugget. And from Turkey cubes to ham cubes.

Therefore we introduced to new foods via food chaining. This was done

at Team Approach (speech therapy) and at his ABA program.
