Guest guest
Wow, that's amazing!! I congratulate you on your success toward making yourself healthier. I am like you in that I don't think I can point specifically to KT since I am a vegan and eat lots of raw foods and tend to be quite healthy anyway. I do have chronic pain though so I am hoping to getting some relief from that w/ KT. Interestingly, I'm juice fasting today, as well as drinking KT, and I am noticing some of my pain symptoms are quite light. I don't really buy commercial now that I homebrew so I can't report on the 'buzz effects' of GT's. --Bettina, bettina@... Against animal cruelty? So how do I tease out what is being helped/caused by what? My ulcerative colitis is in remission and my digestion seems to be working better, and since I also do not have a gall bladder any more I definetly know when my gut is unhappy. My rosacea is signficantly better (and I am using less of the prescription gel). My skin in general is looking better. My hair is curlier. I believe but find it hard to quantify that my liver is working better. I have lost 40 plus pounds over the last year. My chronic pain levels are down. I sleep better. But ... I also use LDN (low dose naltrexone) and high amounts of Vit C and top shelf quality fish oil and and and ... you see my problem. I drink KT because I really like it. I crave it when I have not had any. As for when I drink it. 16 - 32 ounces during the day at work. After breakfast. Before, during, after lunch. I sip it throughout the work day. If I spend my full day in the office I for sure go through 2 - 16 oz bottles by the end of the day. I don't care if it is warm or cold, tastes good to me either way. I do think I eat less when I have my KT throughout the day. I seem less likely to snack on things. On days when i am out seeing clients I may not have any until evening when I get home. At night I usually have 16 ounces mixed with the juice of one fresh lemon. I drink maybe a quarter to a third of it before dinner. I might sip a little during the meal but find I don't tend to drink during a meal much. I finish it off after the meal. On busy days this might be all I have. If I have my evening homemade KT I find I rarely crave/need a dessert. Hands down I prefer my homemade KT. I really enjoy the flavor and find it more satifying somehow. Do you still get the buzz from the GTs now? I can feel it a little but not nearly as much as I used to and as I can from what I make at home. Oh ... I can tell you ... when I first started drinking KT I think my liver was pretty messed up (okay I know it was). Anyway, after I would drink KT my lips would kind of swell and tingle. At first I thought maybe I was allergic somehow. Then I realized I was detoxing. I don't get that anymore, but it was rather freaky when I did. Guest guest
Hi Bettina, I'm fairly new to KT home brewing. I drink anywhere from a glass around 16 ounces or approx. 450 mL to around 750 mLs (the size of a regular wine bottle) per day. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I have noticed various health benefits. I have been dieting and KT has toned down my cravings for refined sugars to almost zero. My heartburn is almost no problem. I took the advice of some in this group and have used the KT from my hotel as a skin tonic and it has helped my skin tremendously and even helped me get rid of my dandruff. We are lucky to have stumbled upon this group, they have helped me tremendously. -Ernie in New Mexico > > So just trying to get a feel for how much others drink per day, at what times of > day, and empty stomach or after a meal? Guest guest
From everything I read and experienced, 8 ounces total per day is all anyone really needs -- 4 oz in AM, and4 oz in PM. But if you drink more, it can't hurt. The only thing I can think of that might not be good from drinking as much as you do is if you're sensitive to all that acidity in your body. But if not, if you can make enough KT to have it on hand like that, I say 'go for it.' I was using old GLASS soda bottles for my re-bottling (I just hate the thought of toxins from the plastic going into my KT -- my doctor said that even 'food grade' plastic emits toxins, not to even refill store-bought water bottles with WATER - also, Hannah Crum mentioned the same thing on her website). I found myself drinking 2-3 bottles per day, and I had no problems from that intake, and the bottles were anywhere from 8-12 oz each. So I say, drink away!! ---X-SAC ________________________________ To: original_kombucha Sent: Wed, May 25, 2011 9:35:44 PM Subject: Re: how much KT per day Hi Bettina, I'm fairly new to KT home brewing. There are quite a few site re: this. Hope this helps http://www.cajunernie.com/ It is generally recommended that Kombucha should be taken early in the morning on an empty stomach. Guest guest
Hi I am far from an expert in weight loss. I must say however that the before and after meal weight loss remains a function of your calories intake and the amount of carbs you take. a High Carb diet tends to be stocked in the body as fat ... unless the carbs are used by the body as energy source. IOW given a person, same person on a low carb (NOT LOW FAT, I don'tbelieve in the Low FAT thing our body needs GOOD fats) and a on high carb .. Same calories intake in both case .. On a low carb intake the same person is likely to lose some fat ... I am not certain KT would do the trick .. It does rev up the metabolism some but it does that regardless of the time taken ... Guest guest
Hi Frantz, Not sure why the discussion on carbs and fats, etc. This was about the best times to drink KT. I personally find that when I drink KT in the morning I am simply not THAT hungry. If we are talking weight loss, one of the best sources I have found is in the book Eating for your Blood type by Dr. D'Adamo. Guest guest
HUH! That makes me wonder...my appetite has gone way down since increasing the amount of kt I drink. That makes two things that I use now that I guess control appetite. When I started using coconut oil last June, when I ramped it up and took at last 2 T of oil a day my appetite went down, too. ________________________________ To: original_kombucha Sent: Fri, May 27, 2011 10:45:24 AM Subject: Re: how much KT per day  Hi Frantz, Not sure why the discussion on carbs and fats, etc. This was about the best times to drink KT. If we are talking weight loss, one of the best sources I have found is in the book Eating for your Blood type by Dr. D'Adamo. And Icould be wrong Frantz Subject: Re: how much KT per day To: original_kombucha Date: Thursday, May 26, 2011, 10:10 PM Hi Jaxi, I remember reading about this years ago, so when the question came up I did a google search. There are quite a few site re: this. Hope this helps http://www.cajunernie.com/ It is generally recommended that Kombucha should be taken early in the morning on an empty stomach. Sip it slowly rather than gulping it down. The other glasses can be taken after lunch and after dinner. For weight loss, drink Kombucha before or during meals. http://www.ancienthealings.net/the-kombucha-mushroom.html For weight loss, drink the tea BEFORE meals. For weight gain drink the tea AFTER your meal. kathe

That makes me wonder...my appetite has gone way down since increasing the amount of kt I drink. That makes two things that I use now that I guess control appetite. Guest guest
We are a little OT, but ... Calories are calories are calories. It doesn't matter where they come from. Your body doesn't store carb calories any differently than fat or protein. In fact, the best meals to have are ones that include carbs/fats/proteins. However, the quality of food that comprise those is extremely important. When you eat high-processed food, you are not going to be alkaline, which is how your body maintains and loses weight. When you have a high acidity diet (fast food, processed, lots of animal protein), your body is not alkaline. One of the huge benefits of KT is that it helps your body to become more alkaline, but only in concert with eating a low-acidity diet. If we are suggesting books about diet, the best one I've ever read (and I've read plenty) is Furhman's Eat to Live. It's not a 'diet' book because it's much more about quality of food and not limiting the amount of high-quality food. --Bettina, bettina@... Against animal cruelty?
