EVEN IF YOU ARE *NOT* A HOMESCHOOLER, look up a homeschool convention

near you and consider attending. Most homeschool conventions are

inexpensive and they usually offer several speakers who homeschooled

kids with special learning needs. The vendor/exhibitor sections are a

WEALTH of resources for supplementing what public school is doing.

There is a huge convention in Cincinnati, Ohio, in April, that families

RAVE about -- and I've been looking at their schedule of speakers, and

they have quite a few folks presenting from a perspective of working

with students w/ special learning needs. Melinda Boring and Carol

Barnier are two of them.

Here's a list of homeschool conventions:

on her reading comprehension and in general her understanding of What,

Who, Where type questions. She is already reading but has no concept of

what occured in the story. They are just words. And when you ask what

she did at school, even with prompts, she just doesn't want to discuss

it. She says " I don't know, it doesn't matter " . This is her main area

of focus right now as other areas are progressing well.

ideas or suggestions on programs or places to find help is appreciated.

We live in central MA but I am willing to travel to Boston if needed.
