Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Today I tried something different - I tried doing Tibetan Rite as my warm-up. Not a good choice for me. I have done Tibetan Rite following a workout and that has been fine, but, I think b/c I workout literally within minutes of waking (I brush my teeth, feed the cat, and get going - well, sometimes I throw in a load of laundry, and then I get going!) it is not a good choice for me. It is a little too agressive for the way my body is feeling in the morning. I think I need to do more gentle warm-ups for the a.m., and maybe follow up my workout w/ Tibetan Rite (the Kries, Hot Body/Cool Mind DVDs have the Tibetan Rite sequence on them). Anyway, I think I ended up irritating my SI Joint b/c it was not quite ready for some of the movements this morning. Hopefully, things will settle down. All this said, I think I would honestly get better results from my workouts if I could do them later in the day - when my body is looser - but I also know that if I didn't workout first thing in the a.m., I most likely wouldn't work out at all! Also, in the "not the smartest move of the day" category, I continued on with my workout and did the cardio portion of Amy Dixon's Women's Health Perfect Body Workout. Not a good move b/c after feeling my back get not too happy with TR - I should have left it alone and either skipped the workout or done something else. Grr!I then popped in Yoga for Stress Relief Practice for the SI Joint, but my DVD player did not like the DVD - at this point, I was feeling too frustrated to try another player - so I just did some stretching on my own. I think my back will settle down today - I'm just going to be extra mindful and add in some restorative stretches throughout the day. So, I think I'm going to stick w/ T'ai Chi style warm-ups for the a.m. workouts and maybe tack the Tibetan Rite on to the end. I can see how TR makes for a good warm-up, you really do move all your major joints - I think it would work better for me as a warm-up if I had an hour or two to move around first before hitting my workout!Take care!Donna
