that's interesting, but I have also heard/read conflicting things. For a while (10 years ago???) the big formula was 40/30/30 - 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% fat - that was from The Zone.

I tend to think that we're all different and what works for us will be different. I get most of my calories from carbs, I'm sure. I love carbs and couldn't go too low w/out feeling off (hungry/faint/tired). I tried the Zone formula of 40/30/30 awhile back when it was popular and I was hungry all the time and GAINED weight on that plan. I think I am probably closer to the high carb/low fat diet plan - the classical "anti-heart disease" diet from way back when carbs were good. Maybe that is why it is so hard for me to gain muscle???? :) Not enough protein?? For example, I'd rather have peanut butter on whole grain for breakfast than scrambled eggs. I'd rather have pasta and beans than a steak....
