Storing Scobies

I can't take the fruit flies, so I am going to put my KT brewing on hold for the

summer months. I have read that you can store scobies indefinitely in the

fridge. Is this true? Do they need any maintenance if they are going to be

refrigerated for several months? Do I put a lid on the jar?

Carla,

I keep my scoby(s) when not in use in a glass jar with lid on in the

refrigerator, with a sugar tea covering them. At least once a month I drain off

a little of the residual liquid and replace it with sugar tea. I have had no

problems what so ever. If you forget to " feed " your scopy don't worry, it is a

very resilient beastie.
