Guest guest
Cort: We've become a " fast food " nation and want to label everything, thus the desire to name what we have no matter what. But you all ready knew that. For me, the thinking is, if it's declared then it can be treated, which is not always the case. Example: One of my cousin's was diagnosed with brain fever because her mother insisted that she have a diagnosis. Truth is the doctor's don't know what's " wrong " with her, didn't know how to treat her without naming something for insurance purposes and even though it was wrong, started different drugs to see if anything would take. So far as I know, there's still no true diagnosis but she's deteriorated so much and has developed such a bad taste for doctors she's now using " natural " remedies to combat her troubles and ailments. The drive to name, however wrong it may be, is not only the patient's problem but also the insurance companies that won't pay the doctor's unless there's a " reason " . There are many hands in this, no one takes the " blame " and no one takes responsibility. Talk about frustration for the doctors! Of course, this is just my opinion. As my husband says, " Opinion's are like a---oles; everyone has them and they all stink. " Take care and be well. Ellen

Guest guest
Marty: Thank you for the input. I'm sorry you had to go so long without dx, but it's good to know your doctors didn't give in to the demands of the insurance companies. Someone told me that Kathleen was diagnosed with Stills as well about 10 years ago or so but I don't know how true that is. It's been on Mystery Diagnosis and Diagnosis X and there's another show my husband watches called the Real Housewives of NYC where one of the mother's has a child with Stills. It's become better known but still not well enough known for the general public to know what or who we are. Take care and be well. Guest guest
Cort, Actually " Still's Disease " was first classified by Dr. Stills in the JRA form. " Sytemic JRA " , one of the 3 classified types. It also being the worse of the 3 and more likley to become chronic. It was not until much later that Adult version was classified. Of course, and as you have mentioned, is it really the same thing or " almost, sort of, exactly like " the juvenile form in most ways?
